Due to this being one of the more calm Memorial Day weekends, I figured this would give me a chance to catch up on some BS around the house. And try a new DIY project that's been on the burner for a minute, making some vinyl bowls. I've got tone of vinyl that I don't need, nor would anyone else for that matter, so here's a little pictography of my project:
Set the over to 200 degrees and wait. Be sure to tap your foot excessively if you've got an older oven.
Next, figure out what you need for a weight to weigh the record down on top of the bowl. Mad mystery meat. You can also see the inital set up.
Continue to wait for oven to warm up. 10:00 a.m., PBR and a Parliament? Sure!
I fought long and hard to figure out if I wanted to get rid of this album. Check out the guy in the middle.
Oven's ready! Here's a picture of the set up. I was mad shook and watched it a lot at first, but then I got bored.
Boredom solved! Had to go test the new squeegee from Target. :o
Oh snap, the first one's done! Not too shabby for the first go 'round. For those that try this themselves, I will say that it's easier to just put the record on top of the bowl, let it soften in the oven and then push the can into the bowl.
Hang and enjoy! New Michelle (she stays droppin' recommendations for my place) said that something needed to be on the bulkhead there, so I figured that would be a great place for them. Mad different and I think they're a fresh addition to the house.
It was fun making these things and the inital cost wasn't much. Sure beats buying them online, I've seen them for upwards of $50 for custom ones. Vinyl was free, the bowl was $4 and the can of whatever I already had. I can definitely dig that.
I did get to have some fuckery this weekend. Went out w/ Nate and his crew on Sunday night. Good times at Mexicali Blues, Shitlows and then off to see the love of his life at some sports bar near Crystal City. Sorry to blow up your spot there son, you poacher.
