"I am Iron Man"

Well, here it is 1 a.m. and I've just finished round 2 w/ this html BS, however I wanted to throw up a quick review of the flick as I just came from it not too long ago.

A perfect summertime flick. Good action, quick quips from Mr. Downey, Jr. and some decent tail. I think this was well worth the $10.50 (which sadly, is the norm now). Iron Man was one of my favorites growing up, mainly due to his role in the Marvel vs. Capcom games.

Usually w/ these flicks, it's the character build up that might take some time to get going and then there's a larger climax at the end. This was somewhat the contrary. The build up of Tony Stark and what he was before was pretty dope. I know that they had to modernize the character a bit from the original story, but it fit today's world perfectly. It seems that these movies now are taking a page from the newer Christian Bale "Batman" flicks. Good storytelling on how the main character came to be. I won't ruin for yall, I'd honestly like for yall to go see it.

Action was spot on. I'm a big fan of actual action, i.e. Die Hard flicks, however, the rendering of Iron Man in CGI was dope. I gotta give it to ILM, they're really pushing the envelope w/ a lot of this stuff and it's looking realer and realer. Of course, my main issue w/ most of these flicks is the lack of gratuitous violence. Nothing wrong w/ seeing people get shot, etc., but that's something that we didn't see a whole lot of in this flick. But meh, it still fit things perfectly.

Go out and check it. And for now, I'm off to bed. Tomorrow's my "Friday" and I'm super anxious for this NYC trip.
